Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Dec 2025

A medium yellow hue, the NV Champagne Princes 3rd Brut is a blend of 33% each of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier, with the addition of a small amount of Les Riceys. (A code on the back label notes the villages and info.) The third edition is based on 2020 with 45% reserve wine comprised of 2019, 2018 and 2016. The dosage is 5 grams per liter, and it was disgorged in January 2025. It’s an elegant wine with a bit more subtlety on the nose, but the palate starts to shine, showing very pretty red fruit, candied lemon and orange citrus, cherry blossoms, and a supple, rounded mousse that lifts it off the palate. Medium-bodied, it has a hint of underlying mouthwatering acidity and a nice saltiness on the finish. It will be best enjoyed over the next 20 years.

A blend of 35% Pinot Noir, 34% Pinot Meunier and 31% Chardonnay, the NV Princes Brut 2nd Edition is more balanced and vibrant than its sibling, the 1st Edition. Evoking aromas of herbs, spices, lemon oil, red berries and pastry, it's moderately weighted and well-balanced, with finely integrated acids, good depth at the core and an elegant, refined mousse. It concludes with a mouthwatering, fresh finish. Disgorged in March 2023 with a dosage of five grams per liter.

About to be released, the NV Champagne Princes Brut 2nd Edition has a 2019 base, with 32% reserve wine with roughly equal parts of Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. It pours a straw hue and is very pretty on opening, with a floral nose and detailed, layered, lacy aromatics of white peach and a hint of sweet almond. Silky and elegant on the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, with good focus, a pillowy mousse, and a finish that reveals a lovely note of candied citrus on the back palate. It’s very pleasing and approachable feel now but will certainly have a fairly wide drinking window. Drink 2023-2040. 5 grams per liter dosage.
