Tasting Notes
The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine is classic and austere to the core. Here, the blend of sites yields a massively tannic, old-school Barolo that is for the exceedingly patient. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, cedar and licorice are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. The 2010 is incredibly focused, with tons of Le Coste in its flavor profile, but above all else, in its structure. Intense, searing tannins support the finish. Most people will desperately want the Brunate, and with good reason. It is a magical wine. But readers should not forget the Tre Tine. It is much less showy today, but in many ways it is a more typical Rinaldi Barolo for its sense of classic austerity. Sep 2014, www.Vinous.com, Drink 2020-2040

The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine tasted riper and more oxidative than expected, especially given the excellence of the vintage. I will add that it is often difficult to taste at the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery given the competing aromas of must and damp in the tasting space (and the fact these samples were poured from previously opened bottles). The bouquet shows round cherry flavors and spice. Jun 2015, www.robertparker.com
