Tasting notes
Rocca's Barbaresco is a lovely entry-level offering. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, anise, orange peel and mint grace the palate in a mid-weight, gracious Barbaresco that will drink well with just a few years in bottle. Bright red stone fruit, mint, white pepper and tobacco give the wine its presence and overall energy. Today, the 2013 is not quite as expressive as it was a year ago, but it is still very pretty and complete, especially at this level. The straight Barbaresco is a blend of fruit from Currà, Fausoni and Marcorino.

Bruno Rocca does a fabulous job with his base Barbaresco. The 2013 Barbaresco is an elegant and streamlined wine with delicate nuances of dark fruit and wild berry backed by dried violets and white pepper. The approach is elegant, fine and silky. I highly recommend this wine for near and medium-term drinking.
The 2013 Barbaresco is sweet, candied and perfumed, with striking aromatics, silky tannins and exceptional finesse. Just bottled, the 2013 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine. This is a wonderfully complete, impeccable Barbaresco from the Rocca family. Specifically, the 2013 is more finely cut and delineated than the 2012 tasted alongside it.
