2014 Tolpuddle Chardonnay

There's a tropical pineapple lilt to both the nose and palate of the 2014 Chardonnay. The 2014 vintage was cool but also experienced “some frost, rain and a heat episode,” which go a long way in explaining the mouthfeel and flow of this wine. The intrinsic power of the vineyard remains unchanged in the glass and unwavering through the undulations of flavor and structural changes year on year. As always, the acidity is a glass rod of structure through the heart of this wine.

Low yield and concentrated mid palate. 50% fruit brought to Adelaide as whole fruit and 50% as juice. Great evolution. Delightful combo of richness and precision on the palate. Super-appetising, though still with the green note. Quite long. (JR)

Pale yellow-gold. A highly complex bouquet displays fresh citrus and orchard fruit and floral scents, and a hint of iodine comes forward as the wine opens up. Juicy, incisive and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant Meyer lemon, pear nectar and toasted brioche flavors that pick up a smoky mineral flourish on the back half. Concentrated yet energetic in style, finishing impressively long and nervy and displaying impressive focus and lingering citrus fruit and mineral notes.
