Wonderfully complex aromas of orchard fruits, baking spices and toasted bread. Drier and juicier than the Valmur, showing a more stony middle palate, but at the same time quite silky and suave, boasting lovely mid-palate energy and floral lift. This very concentrated wine quickly tightened up in the glass, showing strong menthol minerality. Finishes with a penetrating citrus character and the structure to support a graceful evolution in bottle. Like the Valmur, this wine needs time to show itself, although Piuze noted that he'd probably start drinking this before the Valmur.

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru les Preuses has a little more definition than the Les Clos, a pleasant spiciness coming through, with Mirabelle and yellow flowers. The palate is well structured with crisp acidity, very focused with attractive spicy notes, dried honey and dried quince towards the finish. There is weight and presence here, but unlike the Les Clos, there is considerable tension to boot. This is the pick of Patrick's wines in 2015.

Bright yellow. Brown spices and flowers dominate the subtly complex nose. Densely packed but light on its feet, conveying noteworthy delicacy and class to its flavors of lemon, flowers, stone, fresh herbs and spices. Tightly wound but with no shortage of personality. With its firm saline minerality and nicely integrated acidity, this wine has all the elements for a graceful evolution in bottle. Jul 2016, www.vinous.com

A ripe yet still relatively cool nose of white flower, discreet oyster shell, citrus and ripe green fruit aromas gives way to rich, concentrated and energetic medium weight flavors that possess a slightly more prominent acid spine on the attractively long and intense finish where a touch of grapefruit peel arises. This is really quite good and already more harmonious than most of the wines in the range. Oct 2016, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2021+
