Tasting notes
(the first vineyard picked due to hail; production was barely 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Hugues Pavelot): Good dark color. Blackberry, licorice, violet, bitter chocolate and minerals on the nose and palate; a step up in sweetness and suppleness from the Aloxe-Corton. Still a touch brutal and quite black in character but already shows some give.

The 2014 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru les Peuillets has a very expressive, mineral-led bouquet with fine delineation and focus. The palate is taut and fresh, crispy tannin here that impart fine tension and sense of nascent energy that gently fans out towards the precise finish. It is not tremendously long, but I like the detail here.
