(bottled the week before my visit): Bright, light yellow. Stone and citrus fruits plus a hint of apple on the nose and palate. Fine-grained, elegant and laid-back, offering a very suave texture for village wine. This dry, understated Meursault should be approachable young and age nicely.

The 2014 Meursault Village, a blend of several vineyards, consists of 22 barrels rather than the usual 50 barrels. It has an understated bouquet, a little quiet at the moment though nicely defined. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with fine acidity, though it tapers slightly towards the finish. I feel that this was knocked sideways by the trauma of the hailstorm, a Meursault with its wings clipped and just doing the best that it can.

Young vines. Shared Clos des Baronnes with Roulot but vinified separately. One third in tank. Pretty and lively. Hint of blossom and medium weight. Lots of freshness too. Pretty though certainly not concentrated. (JR)

(I tasted a blend of components): Very ripe aroma of mirabelle . Tactile and sweet; fatter than the 2013 version but with lovely balancing acidity to lift its pineapple fruit. This is softer and less adamantly dry than the 2013 version, which Lafon attributes to the Clos de la Baronne component of this wine. The 2014 malos also went much more quickly, finishing by late January of this year.
