1988 Sammarco

The 1988 Sammarco is fantastic. Sweet, perfumed and highly expressive, with a lot of Sangiovese character coming through. Tobacco, iron, herbs, smoke, dried cherries and menthol form a super-appealing bouquet. The tannins are silky, while the lively acidity ensures well-stored bottles will drink well for another handful of years. What a gorgeous wine this is.
