The 2014 Blanc de Lynch Bages just lacked a little complexity on the nose, perhaps the 20% Muscadelle component taking away some of the potential mineralité and tension. The palate is balanced with lime, grapefruit and watermelon notes, the acidity nicely judged and with ample freshness and what is a straightforward finish. Drink now and over the next three or four years.

Tasted less than two months after bottling in May 2015. 70% barrel fermented of which 50% new oak. 54% Sauvignon Blanc, 28% Sémillon, 18% Muscadelle (a distinguishing mark). Broad rather than skinny and some real interest here. (JR)
The just-bottled 2014 Blanc de Lynch-Bages is intensely aromatic, with plenty of sweet, tropical-leaning notes from the significant presence of Muscadelle in the blend. Orange peel, white flowers, Chamomile and lightly honeyed notes are laced into the expressive finish. The blend is 52% Sauvignon Blanc, 28% Semillon and 20% Muscadelle.

Ch. Lynch-Bages is one of the largest and best properties in Pauillac, in the Médoc. While officially classified as a Fifth Growth estate, it regularly competes with the First and Second Growths when it comes to quality and ageability.
