2012 Monsieur Etain Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain is in essence a second wine, but it sure doesn’t taste like one. Its deep purple color is followed by pure black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, dusty, loamy soil notes, extraordinary depth of fruit, ripeness and good acidity. This opulent, round beauty is ideal for drinking over the next decade or more.

This historic vineyard in Rutherford, which owns some of the oldest vines in all of Napa, continues to turn out some of Napa’s most profound Cabernet Sauvignons. eRobertParker.com.October, 2014
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain, Scarecrow's rarely seen second wine, is gorgeous. Layered, nuanced and wonderfully expressive, the 2012 captures the personality of the vintage in a convincing fashion. Dark red cherry, plum, sweet tobacco, cedar and spice notes open up as this soft, voluptuous wine shows off its hugely appealing personality. The creamy, textured finish is wonderfully inviting. All the signatures of this great Yountville site come through in a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next decade.
About the producer

Scarecrow shot to fame with its debut 2003 vintage. The wine, named after the The Wizard of Oz character, is made exclusively from grapes from the J. J. Cohn vineyard in Napa’s Rutherford. Scarecrow is owned by Bret Lopez (J. J. Cohn’s grandson) and is very much a rarity in Napa.
