Score 86/100 · Drink 2017-2021, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Teyssier has a straightforward bouquet of kirsch and smudged strawberry fruit, just a light ferrous scent that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with light red cherry fruit, simple and easy-drinking in style, perhaps just needing a little more density and fleshiness to come through on the slightly attenuated finish. Drink over the next three or four years.

The 2014 Teyssier (Montagne Saint-Émilion) is much more rustic than it was as a barrel sample. There is good depth to the fruit, but the 2014 is unfortunately a bit lacking in focus. The blend is 85 % Merlot, 12 % Cabernet Franc and 3 % Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the first year Stéphane Derenoncourt's team has consulted here, and the wine is clearly a work in progress.

Healthy crimson. Relaxed, round, healthy ripe fruit without that much tannins but a lot of polish and approachability. Light sandpaper tannins on the end. (JR)

The 2014 Teyssier is gorgeous. Soft, silky and nuanced, the 2014 is all about harmony. Sweet spices meld into juicy dark cherries, plums, new leather and cedar. The 2014 is a resonant, harmonious St.-Emilion with tons of near and medium-term appeal. This is an impeccably crafted wine from Jonathan Maltus. Best of all, it should also be very fairly priced. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
