Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is powerful, savory and super-impressive. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2014 is an infant, Even so, its potential and personality are both evident. Grilled herbs, plums, graphite and black cherry all come alive with a bit of time in the glass. The natural savoriness of Coombsville and the taut style of the year work so well here.

Aromas of blackberry and blueberry follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Very pretty. Tangy undertone. From one of the top grape growers of the region. Drink or hold.
Their 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard (425 cases), is made from a vineyard planted in red volcanic tufa soils. The irony is that just about everybody that buys fruit from this vineyard makes better wine than the owner. This is a terrific, almost Bordeaux-inspired wine with loads of minerality and structure, but intense chocolaty, charcoal notes intermixed with blackcurrant, licorice and forest floor. It is dense, full-bodied, stunningly rich and can be drunk now or cellared for another two decades.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard shows how compelling this site is, exploding from the glass with black cherry, plum, licorice, cloves, menthol and sage. All things considered, the 2014 has aged beautifully. It naturally displays the savoriness of this vineyard and the linear style of the year. Drink it over the next five to ten years.
