The 2014 Reynon, the estate and home of the late Denis Dubourdieu, has a backward nose with sandalwood and tobacco infused black fruit, hints of pine cone developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely mixture of red and black fruit on the entry; supple tannin, well-judged acidity and a detailed, almost caressing finish that belies the structure underneath. What a superb Reynon! This comes highly recommended and why not raise a toast to the professor when enjoying this Reynon?

The 2014 Reynon is plump, juicy and delicious. A bit restrained in this vintage, the Reynon offers pretty aromatics and bright red stone fruit flavors, with a hint of sweet spice in the background. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable near-term appeal.

Lively, whistle-clean and super-brisk. Even crisper than usual, which is why it is probably best drunk a little more mature than most vintages of this house white of Denis Dubourdieu. (JR)

Extremely high acidity mitigated by much more widespread malolactic fermentation than usual. This wine from Denis Dubourdieu's home property is of course impeccably clean and well made but in view of the extremely youthful acidity, I would recommend waiting until at least September before drinking it. It needs to calm down – although I should admit that I enjoyed it enormously with the first of the summer's Wye Valley English asparagus. Perhaps that's the way to distract from the acidity in the short term. (JR)
