Score 92/100 · Drink 2024-2036, Neal Martin, Mar 2024

The 2014 Larcis Ducasse has a delineated and focused bouquet with quite vivacious red berry fruit intermixed with orange rind and touches of violet. One of the most attractive aromatics in this flight. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red berry fruit, hints of oxtail and black pepper, nicely composed towards the finish with just enough sapidity to tempt you back. Drink over the next decade. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Evolved but very dark colour. Sweet dried fruits, a touch raisiny. Chewy, compact tannins, marked acidity but decent fruit at the core. (JH)

The 2014 Larcis Ducasse is obviously very young on the nose but there is a lot of potential: blackberry, wild strawberry, pain d’épices and just a touch of meat juices. This has character although, it feels very backward. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, a little chewiness to contend with on the entry, tobacco, cedar and a touch of leather developing towards the finish. Tasted at the Larcis Ducasse vertical in Bordeaux.

The 2014 Larcis-Ducasse has a well-defined, traditional blackberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow scented bouquet, the oak discrete and simpatico with the fruit. The palate is clean and pure with fine tannin. This is underpinned by a fine bead of acidity, fresh and classic in style with a touch of cedar and tobacco towards the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
