The 2014 La Tour St Bonnet put in a good showing in barrel. Now in bottle, it has a slightly pinched but focused and well defined bouquet with classic black fruit and cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, good structure, plenty of tobacco-stained black fruit with a harmonious and very satisfying finish. Now, here is a lovely Cru Bourgeois that gives Bordeaux a good name. Recommended. Tasted September 2016.

65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Aged for 20 months. Crude fruit, simple and plain and dreary. (RH)
Dark purple. Sweet start and some pretty jazzy oak. Very slightly less-than-fully ripe. Sinewy – more frame than flesh. But the finish is pretty impressive. (JR)
