The 2014 Pagodes de Cos has a fresh blackberry and bilberry fruit nose with a pastille-like purity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and tobacco-infused black fruit with a potent graphite finish that feels classically styled and fresh. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet. Rich, dark-fruited and cedary. Firmly textured and rich in fruit so the tannins are filled out. A big, generous and powerful wine, all in harmony. Concentrated and fine-boned at the same time. (JH)

The 2014 Les Pagodes de Cos has a loose-knit bouquet, slightly richer in style than its peers with hints of fig infusing the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. I found this slightly “confit” in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, good acidity and demonstrating better balance than the aromatics imply. I appreciate the weight in the mouth, the spicy, white pepper vein towards the finish...it just needs more finesse to develop. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
