Tasting notes
The 2013 Rall White is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Chardonnay and Viognier sourced from Stellenbosch and Swartland on decomposed granite and some gravel soils. It saw ten months in used French oak with regular lees stirring. It has a very succinct bouquet with touches of lanolin, white peach, fennel and apple blossom that unfurls beautifully in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with plenty of phenolic ripe stone fruit on the entry: dried pineapple and white peach, touches of spicebox and poppy seeds towards the finish. What a stunning white from winemaker Donovan Rall.
