Quite closed nose with subtle aromas of sour cherry and strawberry. Refreshing on the palate, with smooth, ripe tannins giving excellent structure. An easy drinking wine with a long fruity finish. Powerful, yet elegant and refined.

The 2010 Sassoalloro is a distinctive red blend with a firm mineral vein that runs straight through. Dusty tones of crushed granite and pencil shavings emerge immediately from the bouquet. Once they lift, they reveal subtle fruit tones that recall wild raspberry and red currant. Added notes of spice and tobacco round off the finish. The finish is medium and the wine should evolve over the next five years.
100% Sangiovese of the famous BBS 11 (Brunello Biondi Santi) clone, aged for 14 months in French barrique. Beautiful, concentrated crimson. Savoury chalky, orange and cherry and unmistakably Sangiovese. Succulent, almost lean, concentrated cherry fruit supported by fine-grained tannins. Very understated and closes up quickly. Austere and ageworthy and almost burgundian in style. (WS)
Dark and concentrated, this red displays blackberry, plum, smoke and spice flavors. Supple and balanced, with a long, saturated finish of dark fruit and spice. Drink now through 2020. 12,500 cases made.
