Tasting notes
Good bright, dark red. Fresh aromas of black cherry and menthol. Sweet and energetic on the palate, with mineral and floral lift to the currant and plum flavors. Boasts excellent acidity for the year, and yet there's an open-knit character that's very 2007. Strong fruit is nicely supported by serious tannic structure. This offfers plenty of early perfume and sex appeal but is structured to reward aging. By the way, Grasso did not bottle a 2007 Giachini owing to hail.

La Morra. Deep crimson. Dark compact fruit and hints of leather but not overpoweringly so. Wonderful red and dark fruit and with persistent tannin with real crunch and bite. (WS)
The 2007 Barolo Bricco Luciani is one of the most beautiful wines I have tasted here in quite some time. Dark berries, flowers, minerals and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this sexy, well-delineated Barolo. The 2007 possesses more depth than has been the norm over the recent past and also less new oak, a combination that has yielded a fabulous result. The wine's inner perfume carries through gracefully to the long, silky finish. This is a hugely enjoyable Barolo from Grasso.

As is typically the case, Grasso bottled his 2007s later than most of his colleagues, which meant I was only able to sample two Baroli from bottle.
