The 2013 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, which was the smallest production ever at 50,000 bottles, has a breezy, red cherry and strawberry-scented bouquet that is simple but attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly stringy tannin, moderate acidity, with a little chewiness on the finish. Drink over the next 4-6 years.
84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Violets and black cherry, but a certain herbal edge too. Light body, very well-crafted smooth tannins. Beautifully balanced – seamless and effortless, but missing some substance. (RH)
