Bruno Rocca's 2011 Barbaresco Rabajà is an absolutely delicious expression from the heart of this prestigious appellation in Northern Italy. The bouquet exhibits great layering and finesse with a fluid, ever-changing set of aromas. They range from cola and balsam herb to red cherry and crushed granite. Ash and campfire smoke also appear as delicate background notes. The wine is fine and elegant overall.

The 2011 Barbaresco Rabajà is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Intensely perfumed, sweet and pliant, the 2011 is a real head-turner. Pine, rose petal and bright red fruit all jump from the glass in an extroverted, powerful Barbaresco that expresses the essence of this great site. Today, the French oak is a bit intrusive, otherwise, this is a fine effort.
Barbaresco. Concentrated ruby with broad orange rim. Immediate sweet dusty oak on the nose, literally a little in-your-face. Overoaked fruit palate. Retro style. (WS)
Good bright red. Subtle perfumed aromas of raspberry, white pepper, cinnamon and red rose. Suave, precise flavors of red cherry, raspberry and sweet spices show a juicy, elegant quality. Finishes extremely long and pure, filling the mouth with perfume. A real beauty with great aging potential: this has the charm and grace of the entry-level 2011 Barbaresco and the density and complexity of the Coparossa, but is much better than either one. (ID)
