Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2028, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2014

The 2010 Barolo is sourced from five or six vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Barolo. This is a gorgeous wine with a silky entry and loads of elegant fruit, cassis, licorice, tar and cola. There’s a real sense of energy and zest in the mouth that is not just due to the freshness of the acidity. It comes from the pristine quality of fruit in 2010. Drink: 2016-2028. Various American importers.

Scavino's 2010 Barolo is supple and open, even in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, savory herbs, tobacco and mint meld together in an approachable Barolo that will drink well pretty much right out of the gate. The 2010 is all about polish, finesse and delicacy. Sweet spices and crushed flowers meld into the expressive finish. The main vineyard sites are Rocche Mariondino, Vignolo, Altenasso, Terlo, Vignano and San Bernardo. The Scavino Barolo is a wonderful lens through which to get an early sense of the vintage.

A mix of three crus (Cannubi, Rocche di Castiglione and Bric del Fiasc), the 2010 Barolo Carobric veers towards fruity tones of red cherry and blackberry with pretty floral highlights at the back. The wine is straightforward and confident with a bright, vibrant voice. Drink: 2017-2028. ||Various American importers. eRobertParker.com.July, 2014
