Musky, sappy nose offers iodine, chestnut, crushed stone and white truffle. Hugely ripe, broad and round, with superconcentrated flavors of peach, butter and stone. This is remarkably layered and large-scaled for the vintage but without any undue weight. Finishes with outstanding power and persistence. Bigger than the Demoiselles but less refined-and less complex in the early going.

Cask sample Big, rewarding nose. Creamy, round, smooth and rich. Very powerful. This one steamrollers across the palate taking no prisoners. If it’s a massive white burgundy you want (and this has nothing to do with New World Chardonnay), this is the one! Needs time to settle. (JR)
This is still extraordinarily primary with lactic hints and wood spice framing the otherwise elegant, airy and compelling white flower and citrus fruit suffused nose that leads to big, rich and muscled flavors that are dense, textured, and deep, all wrapped in a finish that goes on and on. Like many wines from this terroir in 2004, there is more minerality than usual in stylistically, it leans in the direction of a great Chevalier than a Montrachet.
