The 2008 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, served en magnum, has a very elegant bouquet with scents of mirabelle, marzipan and vanilla pod. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, touches of bitter lemon and wild peach, then orange pith towards the tensile finish. This is à point, but it should continue to give pleasure. Tasted at Club 1243 in Beaune.

Very pale green-tinged yellow. Brooding yet delicate aromas of flinty minerality, iodine, mint and lavender. Almost painfully young today but boasts superb energy and precision and a wonderfully light touch for its superb intensity. A Montrachet of refinement and lift more than sheer volume. Best today on the extremely long, slowly mounting finish, which shows outstanding definition and coats the palate with a light dusting of tannins.
