The second string label of Cos d'Estournel that is no longer made. This example from the heatwave vintage in which this appellation performed better generally than other Bordeaux appellations was still tasting well. The finish is a little dry but there is sweetness on the palate entry. Very typical 2003. Not much point in keeping it now. (JR)

On opening: Dark vigorous crimson with no browning. Warm, toasty nose. Very sweet start and some succulence but some dry tannins too and not that much interest. It closes up and dries out on the finish. Really rather rusty nail-like. Not much fun really. My score may be a bit generous. On pouring from a decanter two hours later, with grouse: Much suppler and more expressive. Rich and round, this was taken for a right bank wine by experienced blind tasters. Seductive. The score may be a bit mean. (JR)

This has to be the bargain here it is undoubtedly one of Marbuzet's finest vintages ever and absolutely delicious now. Very winning ripeness and well managed tannins – great balance and plumpness but with St-Estèphe structure too. No holes in this wine. A complete success. This is the first time I have retasted this wine since being impressed by it en primeur. A great buy. (JR)

CS 45, M 50, PV 5 Depending on price of course, this could turn out to be one of the great bargains of the year – with Cos's signature vivacity and fully ripe tannins and density Peppery nose. Rich, ripe and round – extremely supple – just a very slight lack of middle and density distinguishes it from Cos. Bravo! (JR)
