This was not a renowned vintage on the Left Bank, and the 1964 Palmer evinces a challenging season beset by harvest rain. The nose shows some signs of dilution. The palate is flaccid and lacks panache, tired and with nothing more to give. Tasted at the Palmer vertical in London in May 2015.

Tasted at the Château Palmer vertical in London, while never a great Left Bank vintage, even so, the 1964 Château Palmer ought to have been better. It is simply a case of a mediocre wine being long past its best, showing some madeirisation on the nose and the palate best described as over the hill. Put it this way, given the choice of the 1964 or 1960, I would opt for the latter. Tasted May 2015.
