Score 88/100 · Drink 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, May 2016

Tasted at Château Rauzan-Gassies vertical at the property. The 2006 Château Rauzan-Gassies, a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, has more black fruit than red, just a touch of mint with cedar coming through strongly with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little more substance on the mid-palate than the 2005, with a straight-forward but nicely focused finish. It is not a memorable Margaux, but it is a satisfactory 2006 to drink over the next 8-10 years. Tasted June 2015.

Very dark. Some Margaux silkiness and fragrance here at at last! And some luscious fruit. Nicely low key. (JR)

Slightly grey look. Light nose. Very austere fruit. Lightweight. This is in the style of Chinese red wine today! Admittedly a bit fleshier but… metallic finish. Not recommended. (JR)

Very dark crimson. Rather sharp and very obviously fruity. A bit stodgy at the moment – lots of press wine? Very chewy and a bit of a hole on the mid palate. Definitely hollow. Pretty green tannins – not comfortable! (JR)
