2009 Haut Bergey

Tasting notes
Old school, cheerful, enjoyable, ready to drink, supple tannins, unfussy. This was released to strong scores initially, and it has plenty to recommend, but I wouldn't suggest holding it in a cellar for much longer, very much in its drinking window.

The 2009 Haut-Bergey has a lovely bouquet with raspberry, cranberry, rose petal and light forest floor aromas, opening beautifully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well judged acidity, and smooth in texture although, it lacks some density and grip on the finish. Enjoy now and over the next 6 to 8 years. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Greyish crimson with marked acidity. Pinched. Youthful.
A wine with lovely dark berries and chocolates follows through to a full body with chewy tannins and a fit finish. Very in form. Best ever? Try in 2016.
About the producer

Since Paul Garcin took over running this estate in 2014, it has become one of Pessac-Léognan’s most exciting addresses. Biodynamic and with a minimalist approach, Ch. Haut-Bergey makes pure and expressive wines that offer both great value and a taste of the modern Bordeaux.
