At this early stage the nose is reluctant to reveal the joys that follow on the palate. It would be unfair to give all the credit to the generous expression of fruit, as an almost flinty minerality, the aromas of a herb garden and even a dab of medicinal quinine contribute to a great all-round demonstration of complexity. None of this is delivered with a sledgehammer, but the utmost subtlety. The superb concentration of fruit expresses itself in filigree facets rather than overwhelming power. Though rich and luscious the wine is also incredibly vibrant, lifted by a ripe acidity. Pure elegance. (MS)
