Tasting notes
Aromas of graphite, blackberries, black olives and spices. Ripe and light raisin fruit here. Full-bodied with a lovely sweetness and roundness to it. Open and delicious now, but will improve with age.

The 1999 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port offers a mixture of red and black fruit, cigar humidor. A quite noticeable marine/seaweed element comes through with aeration, becoming more iodine-like. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that frame the lightly spiced black fruit. It feels quite sweet and viscous towards the finish, even if it does deliver as much complexity as the 2009 or 2019.
Very, very big and rich and slightly raisiny. But so much there. Dry finish. Very concentrated. Long. Really dry. Vital. Correct. (JR)
Saturated deep ruby. Perfumed, somewhat high-toned aromas of cassis and fresh apple. Fat and rich, with moderately concentrated flavors of blackberry and boysenberry. A rather soft but stylish port. Finishes with easygoing tannins and a slight alcoholic warmth.
