Mid tawny-brick. Brooding, smoky, spicy nose – almost like it’s in a backward phase – with layers of savoury depth emerging. Not full bodied, but full flavoured. Lots of intensity, but again, I don’t think this is giving everything yet. Still a fair weight of tannins as well. It’s at a muscular, somewhat unforgiving stage right now, but I think this will go somewhere interesting. I won’t be broaching my magnum anytime soon! (TJ)

The Warre was beautiful now. It showed lots of dried fruits and Christmas cake character on the nose and palate. Medium sweet. It was full-bodied with loads of flavor and an intensely flavorful finish. It was perfect to drink.
Mid reddish ruby with development. Hint of putty on the nose – rather odd. Round and sweet and full and easy. Tannins have almost melted. This could certainly be drunk now – lots of easy, slightly slack, opulence. No pain. (JR)
Another wine with, like the Smith Woodhouse, an oddly youthful colour. Absolutely tooth-rotting sweetness hits the palate followed by a heavy charge of almost green tannins and a certain stalkiness. Is this extreme youth or lack of harmony? Certainly very unformed. More vibrant than any wine in this tasting other than the extraordinary Smith Woodhouse. (JR)
