Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jul 2015

The 1922 Warre's Vintage Port comes from a less well-known declaration, but this bottle put in a splendid showing. Slightly deeper in color than the '20 Warre's tasted alongside, the nose is more taciturn at first but unfolds with scents of rooibus, wild heather and "attic" aromas, a little spirituous but not feral. The palate is similarly reluctant at first, but develops good depth and concentration, an intriguing cough mixture note mixed with vestiges of red fruit. It feels harmonious in the mouth, somewhat faded toward the finish, but exhibiting greater sustain than the 1920 Warre tasted in tandem. It noticeably meliorates in the glass, this Warre's succored by oxygen, revivifying before you eyes, perhaps its "second coming"? It's just a lovely old Vintage Port. Just add a Cohiba and you're done. Tasted May 2015.
