Mealy, dried-grasses nose. Fresh, direct attack though very simple fruit. Easy and attractive and well balanced but relatively simple. Very soft tannins. Knows its limits. (JR)
Good medium ruby-red. Lovely floral aromas of plum, redcurrant, star anise and cinnamon. Sweet, lush and round, with a slightly high-toned quality contributing to the wine's impression of early personality. I love the combination of texture and focus here. Finishes broad and long, with ripe, dusty tannins. A very attractive 2007.
Revealing surprising density for a 2007, the dark plum-colored Bon Pasteur offers an attractive aromatic display of sandalwood, black cherries, plums, mocha, and caramel. It is a lush, medium-bodied, round, generous wine to drink over the next decade.
About the producer
Famed winemaking consultant Michel Rolland is synonymous with this estate. The vines here were purchased by his grandparents and he ran the property from 1979. Although Rolland still makes the wine today, he sold the estate in 2013.
