Long growing season and 60 days of skin maceration. Very good acid and tannin levels made for a very tight wine on release. Extremely concentrated crimson still! Really rather gorgeous! Opulent but not hot or heavy. Inky-pure. At a lovely stage for starting to drink. Sleek, polished and gorgeous. Really lovely. Long, fresh and luscious but with a suitably dry finish for a Cabernet Sauvignon. (JR)

Lot 18. Deep crimson with a pale rim. Rich but not sweet nose with lots of hedgerow notes. Cool palate entry and just as much class as any bordeaux 2006. Harlan has done it! Much more svelte than some early vintages. Layers of spice and balsam. Super-fresh and persistent finish. I rather regret starting my tasting with this wine! Tannins well in retreat but will hold up the fruit nicely for a long time to come. They demand food! (JR)

Magnum. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, remainder: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. The aromatics of the 2006 are quite subtle at first but open significantly with air, revealing layers of dried mountain herbs, just-broken graphite, and dripping bramble fruits. The palate is stimulating and energetic. With supple tannins and mouth-watering acidity, this is a lengthy wine. It is a bit finer-boned with comparatively less palate density than other vintages but is a lovely wine nevertheless, with energy and palate stimulation. (ECB)
