Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2001-2004, Jancis Robinson MW, Feb 2005
Looks healthy but unusually mature. Smells extremely rustic and cheesey. Good fruit underneath but there is a lack of overall freshness. Very astringent finish. The fruit is clearly already fading but the tannic charge was too great. (JR)

The saturated dark purple-colored 1998 Cornas Domaine St.-Pierre offers sweet black fruits, earth, minerals, smoke, and new saddle leather in its aromas and flavors. Soft with full body, outstanding concentration, and fine overall balance, it should drink well for 15 years. Importer: Frederick Wildman, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700
