Tasted en primeur at the Pomerol Syndicate. The La Croix de Gay has a very fine bouquet with dark berries, some well integrated oak and crisp definition: elegant and understated. The palate is well balanced and underpinned by quite firm, chalky tannins. The finish is foursquare and dry, but that is in keeping with the vintage. This will be a satisfying medium-term drinking Pomerol that is natural and fresh. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com
A deep ruby color is followed by a big, sweet nose of cherry jam and spice, but this wine quickly loses its energy and staying power on the mid-palate and finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Apr 2014, www.robertparker.com
About the producer
Chantal Lebreton-Reynaud is in charge of this 4.2-hectare estate, working with her three sons (Jean-Pascal, Olivier and Julien). The plots sit on gravel and sandier soils, in the hamlet of Pignon, in the north of Pomerol.
