Tasting notes
The 2009 Saumur-Champigny Le Bourg exhibits a strongly smoky aroma and scents of black olive tapenade, sourdough bread, herbal liqueur, along with black cherries and berries. Archaically powerful and concentrated, but also beguilingly pure, fine and elegant, this full-bodied, noble and persistent Cabernet with its silky textured tannins and the well-integrated acidity, has a great aging potential for at least 20 if not 30 or more years, though it is already damned seductive.

About the producer

Clos Rougeard is one of the Loire Valley’s most famous producers. Based in Saumur-Champigny, it produces fine Cabernet Franc in tiny volumes – wines that are almost impossible to source.
