Tasting notes
Dark crimson. Full bodied but with some nerve. A bit drying on the end. Just a bit of a hole in the middle. (JR)

Serralunga d’Alba. Deep, almost dark ruby with orange rim. Minerally, fine nose, but very compact and reluctant. Perfect balancing acidity. Fierce tannin, but it is elegance and power. Notes of orange and dried fruit. All-encompassing wine. (WS)
The 2008 Barolo Lazzarito comes across as remarkably primary. Dark red fruit, iron, tar, smoke, wild flowers and minerals are all wrapped aroud a serious intense, mid-palate and finish. Today the 2008 comes across as a bit tightly wound, but that is the personality of the year. The balance of fruit, structure and oak is superb. Layers of fruit flow through to the firm, authoritative finish. This is impressive juice.
