The 2009 Morgon Côte du Py has a lovely bouquet with ample redcurrant and strawberry fruit, touches of garrigue coming through with time. There is real presence and amplitude here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, good weight and density, though it is more rustic than recent vintages—just a bit of chewiness on the finish. Still, this is a fine mature Morgon.

The 2009 Morgon Côte du Py is drinking brilliantly, bursting with alluring scents of juicy black cherries, dark chocolate, rich forest floor and licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and creamily textural, its tannins either melted or simply still concealed by the wine's ample core of fruit. But there is a juicy succulence to this Morgon's undeniably ripe flavors that ensures that by any metric it must still be considered full of energy and life.
Correct and fruity and as though it still has quite a way to go. Light tannins. A little raw on the end. (JR)
Deep bright cherry crimson. Fragrant and sweet-fruited on the nose but delicate too. Refined and inviting with an underlying depth and tension. Utterly satisfying – already smooth and elegant but full of energy and depth. Complete and harmonious and still has length and potential to develop greater complexity. VGV (JH)
