This well-known cru bourgeois, which has been well represented in the U.S. for many years, is a blend of 49% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc. A very lean, austere finish, this has a nice attack of deep ruby/purple color and ripe fruit, but then the angularity sets in. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.

Cedary dark fruit, smells and tastes warm and spicy. Gentle, rounded though, again, the tannins turn up on the finish. (JH)

Savoury and meaty and very well balanced. Dry and serious initially. Then sweet and rather luscious and well managed on the palate. A much smoother, less jagged drink than some of its peers. (JR)
