Tasting notes
Mushroom and soy with overripe red fruit and still quite a lot of tannin. A little awkward and grainy, but the development of the nose is delicious and expressive. (RH)

Deeper in color than the Grand Classique, with more minerality, black olive, bacon fat, wood smoke and charcoal, the 2006 Hermitage Gambert de Loche is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and edgy, with plenty of tannin and acidity. It doesn’t have the sheer wealth of material found in the Epsilon, but it's still a beautiful, classically built Hermitage that has another 15+ years of life.
Elegant, restrained nose, blackberries and minerals. A bit backward and hard to assess, but maybe a mine of potential. Dec 2009, www.decanter.com
