Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Jun 2009
The 2006 NIC is more expressive aromatically with a sexy nose of smoke, lavender, violets, truffle, and assorted black fruits. It is also more forthcoming on the palate although it, too, will profit from extended cellaring of at least 6-8 years. This classy wine should have a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2030. Bodegas J.A. Calvo Casajus is owned and operated by its namesake, Jose Alberto Calvo Casajus. It is literally a one man undertaking with Casajus also doubling as his village’s baker. His grandfather planted the estate’s Tempranillo vines in 1920.This wine is produced from these vineyards. Importer: Tom George, Frontier Wines, Dover, NJ; tel. (973) 328-4500
