1982 Beau-Sejour Becot

This is another estate that is enjoying a noteworthy renaissance in what is now Bordeaux's hottest appellation - St.-Emilion. The 1982 was made during a period when the wines of Beau-Sejour-Becot were, to state it mildly - uninspiring. It remains a one-dimensional, soft, compact wine with no depth or intensity. As I said over a decade ago, it will last, but it will never develop into anything except a washed-out, meagerly-endowed St.-Emilion that is atypical of the 1982 vintage . Tasted once after bottling.

A very dark-colored and youthful red, with floral and ripe fruit aromas and hints of earth. Full-bodied and very chewy, yet fruity and sweet, with well-integrated tannins and a lovely finish.--1982 Bordeaux horizontal. Drink now. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1998
