Wet stone on the nose. Broad in the mouth but with firm acids giving shape to the musky flavors of stone, white truffle and flowers. This comes across as fresher than the Charmes, which is comparatively heavy today. Carrying 13.5% natural alcohol, the highest of these 2004s, but Javillier noted that he does not like to pick these south-facing vines too late for fear of losing acidity.

Quite introspective, but substantial and creamy. A please-all. Still quite astringent, but very long. Some real flavours and excitement. Real depth, persistence and power. (JR)
Reduced aromas of wet stone and menthol. Altogether less advanced than the above samples, and almost lean in texture compared to Javillier's Meursaults. Juicy, penetrating and austere, with notes of white grapefruit and flowers. A low-fat, extremely young grand cru with terrific cut and lovely aromatic persistence.
