Score 94/100 · Drink 2016, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2013

The 2011 Corton-Charlemagne presents a head-spinning array of floral and mineral notes, followed by intense, voluptuous fruit. Complex, layered and exceptionally beautiful, the 2011 is super-exciting from the very first taste. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous wine from Patrick Bize. Today, it is just beginning to open up. I don't expect the 2011 to be a long-term ager, but also imagine most bottles will be long gone before that is an issue considering how delicious the wine is right now.

A mildly toasty nose that is both ripe and complex features notes of both white and yellow orchard fruit, stone, spice and grilled nuts. There is an intense minerality to the big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors that possess a generous mid-palate that immediately tightens up on the balanced, mouth coating and saline-infused finish. This should reward 6 to 8 years of bottle age. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2017+
