Score 90/100 · Drink 2000-2010, Robert Parker, Aug 2000
The dense ruby/purple-colored, explosive 1997 Bricco Dell'Uccellone boasts aromas of concentrated strawberry jam intermixed with cherries, blackberries, smoky toasty oak, and glycerin. Minimal acidity and a lusty personality result in an already delicious wine, but it should last for a decade. This is a very impressive Barbera! Full ruby-red. Brooding, superripe aromas of black cherry, violet, black pepper and minerals. Rich, thoroughly ripe and expansive; urgent, explosive and complete. A very young, full, long Barbera whose ripe tannins are thoroughly buffered by sheer material.
