Tasting notes
This is a case where the 1995 may be the better balanced and ultimately more intriguing wine than the 1996. It possesses a deep ruby color, excellent aromatics of earth, berry fruit, herbs, and spice, attractive ripeness, medium body, and moderate tannin. This is a seriously made wine that deserves respect. It should drink well for 7-8 years, perhaps longer.

1995 Tour Haut-Caussen (nearly 50% merlot; one-third of the main done in barrel): Good deep color. Sappy berries and mint on the nose. Good texture and sweetness. Firm, slightly medicinal finish. This has more material to balance the oak than the '94.
