Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2005 Château Siran, a blend of 51% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot, has a slightly pinched bouquet that lacks the same "flow" of the 2000 Siran. There is something just a little static here. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, like the nose a little rigid with a tough, leather, and dried herb finish that is masculine and austere. I have no doubt that it will drink for another decade, however, I much prefer the audacity and succulence of the 2000 Siran. Tasted February 2016.

Curiously sweet, almost American oak on the nose and then supply fruit on the palate with some exotic, heady lily-like aromas. Dry finish but not exaggeratedly so. (JR)
Closed but fruit is still sweet and fresh. Lightish but nicely balanced. Charmingly perfumed mid palate if you give it time. (JH)
About the producer
In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
