42% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot. 40.15 hl/ha. Harvested 2 to 18 October. Deep colour. Aromatically rather conservative. Dark fruit but little complexity. Juicy with some initial sweetness to the fruit but finishes a little abruptly. Can’t see this making old bones. Drink while there’s still some shape and form. (JL)
The 2012 Meyney offers mainly red fruit on the nose laced with soy and peppery notes, moderate in terms of complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite structured with good weight, though it is missing some precision towards the finish that feels a tad bitter. Tasted blind. Good energetic nose. Big and bold with marked acidity and polished tannins. Not the most concentrated but lots of fun. Quite edgy acidity and some astringency on the finish still. VGV (JR)
