Tasting notes
I rarely see Calon Segur’s second wine, but the inimitable Madame Gasqueton offered the 2006 Capbern Gasqueton for tasting during my visit to this northerly, gorgeous chateau. It is a soft, pleasant, bistro-styled red that can be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years. It is a good choice for restaurants looking for a St.-Estephe with the good earthy, red currant fruit, but not the tannins so often found in wines from this appellation.
